With spring upon us and summer right around the corner its time to get outside. Here's a list of events happening in May to help you get started.
Furry Scurry May 2
Furry Scurry is an event and fundraiser supporting the Denver Dumb Friends League and has become a tradition for many Denver residents and families. On Saturday morning, about 12,000 people and 5,000 pets will be at Washington Park for this event which includes a 2 mile walk, contests for agility and People/Dog look alikes, and a flea-less market.
Cinco de Mayo Celebrate Culture Festival May 2-3
This upcoming weekend Denver will host the largest two-day Cinco de Mayo Festival in the United States. Mexican culture fills the Civic Center Park with a parade, bands and entertainers, traditional dancers, local artisans, and authentic food.
Five Points Jazzfest May 16
Five points was once known as the Harlem of the West; home to several jazz clubs which hosted musical legends such as Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, and many more. Jazzfest celebrates the history of Denver’s Five Points neighborhood with performances by many legendary artists.
Downtown Denver Arts Festival May 22-24
The festival, located at the Denver Performing Arts Complex, showcases the work of more than 150 local artists. Their diverse talents bring you painting, sculpture, photography, glass work, woodwork, and more.
Denver Day of Rock May 23
Denver Day of Rock is a one-of-a-kind music event presented by Amp the Cause formerly known as Concerts for Kids, a non-profit which assists kid centered assistance programs throughout Denver. With 5 stages along the 16th Street Mall, food, beer gardens, and free music this will be the place to be.
ArtStir Denver May 23-24
Artstir Denver, located at the Denver Pavilions, is an art market showcasing Colorado artists exclusively with a blend of art, music, and style. Featured works include painting, sculpture, photography, illustration, textiles, furnishings, mixed media, and more.
