Stylebook
Have you ever heard of this App? Me neither! But I came across an article about it in Pinterest (shocker) home of everything fashion, decor, great artwork, workout articles, good reads on every subject, recipes, makeup tips, DIY how-to-articles, photography tips..... and the list goes on and on. If you haven't used Pinterest, let me tell you what it does. You save a photo you have found online, and create a folder in your Pinterest account, give your folder a name or Category, and then you can reference it whenever you so desire.
Personally, I use Pinterest for many of those things mentioned above. I also use it for inspiration for things I'd like to buy from bags, to light fixtures, I save examples of how I'd like to decorate my home, what I'm going to make for dinner tonight, where to buy nice leather work shoes for my husband as well as getting ideas on how to organize my kitchen pantry.
Confession: When I was a teenager, my mother would get the Elle Magazine, Teen Magazine or the Cosmopolitan (before it was full of adult articles) and I would cut out my favorite outfits, or hairstyles I liked and created a visual colleague which I taped directly on my bedroom wall.
I think Pinterest has taken that exact concept, and put it in the palm of my hand. Some habits are hard to change. I'm still saving photos of outfits I think are cute for different occasions when I'm standing in front of my closet with a blank look on my face on what to throw on before work. Only now, rather than going to my model covered wall in my bedroom (not sure my husband would appreciate me decorating our room with magazine clippings), I can pull up that folder found on the Pinterest App on my phone, and just like that........I've chosen something I can somewhat duplicate and be out the door! It never is exact, but with enough basics, I can get pretty close. I love having this reference at my finger tips! I've been using Pinterest for several years in this capacity.
It's funny how some things still stay constant about us, and other things progress over time. I think I've come across the next generation of this idea. This Stylebook App might be even better than my saved pics on Pinterest! Take a look at this article;
Here are some of my favorites out of the 50 listed in this article.
20. Plan your tropical vacation packing list while on your lunch break
6. See how many pairs of shoes you really own
15. Plan what you’re going to wear to work for the next week with the Calendar
17. Record which items you dropped off at the dry cleaners
19. See a list of the items you never wear - then donate them
42. Show the store salesperson a photo of the dress you're trying to find shoes for
49. Avoid accidentally buying similar pieces
And of course..... easily pick out an outfit quickly and minimize the time you stand there looking at a full closet thinking you have nothing to wear!
This is my next purchase and at $3.99 it's totally worth it to me!
I'll let you know how it goes! And, if you are reading this and you already have it, PLEASE comment and let me know!!
Cheers!
